Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains what information Friendship Confidential collects when you visit friendshipconfidential.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, you can always reach me at [email protected].
Who I Am
Friendship Confidential is a friendship blog and coaching business run by Jen. In this policy, “I,” “me,” and “Friendship Confidential” refer to the website and business; “you” refers to anyone who visits the site.
Information You Choose to Share
I only collect personal information that you choose to give me:
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message, so I can read and reply to you.
- Email sign-up (“Stay in Touch”): your first name and email address, so I can send you new articles, friendship notes, and free resources like friendscripts.
- Emails you send me, including questions submitted to The Vault and book recommendations.
- Blog comments (once comments are open): your name, email address, and comment. Your email address is never shown publicly.
The Vault and Your Privacy
When you send a question to The Vault, your story stays anonymous. If I answer your question in a video or blog post, I will never share your name, email address, or other identifying details.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site automatically collects some basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site. This helps me understand what readers find helpful and keep the site secure. I use Google Analytics to see this information in summary form. Google’s use of this data is described in Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device that help a website remember you and work properly. This site uses cookies that are needed for the site to function, as well as analytics cookies. When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you choose which optional cookies to accept, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
Embedded Content
Some pages may include content from other websites, such as YouTube videos or social media posts. This content behaves the same way as if you had visited that website directly, and those websites may collect data about you according to their own privacy policies.
How I Use Your Information
- To reply to your messages and questions.
- To send you emails you signed up for. Every email will include an easy way to unsubscribe.
- To understand which articles and pages are most helpful so I can improve the site.
- To keep the website secure and running smoothly.
I never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Who Helps Me Run This Site
I use a small number of trusted services to operate Friendship Confidential. They only receive the information needed to do their job:
- BigScoots, which hosts this website and my business email.
- SureForms and SureMail, which power my contact and sign-up forms and deliver the site’s emails.
- Google Analytics, which provides visitor statistics.
- An email newsletter service (in the future), which will store subscriber names and email addresses and send my emails.
How Long I Keep Your Information
I keep messages and sign-up information only as long as needed to respond to you or to send you the emails you asked for. If you unsubscribe or ask me to delete your information, I will remove it, except for anything I am required to keep for legal reasons. Comments, once published, stay on the site unless you ask me to remove them.
Your Choices and Rights
You can ask me at any time to see the personal information I have about you, correct it, or delete it. You can unsubscribe from my emails whenever you like. To make a request, just email me at [email protected] and I will respond as soon as I can.
Children’s Privacy
Friendship Confidential is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has shared information with me, please let me know and I will delete it.
Keeping Your Information Safe
I take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) connections and a reputable hosting provider. No website can be 100% secure, but I do my best to keep your information safe.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
